FACIAL SKIN CARE
For most people, stress and aging
first appear in the texture of the facial skin. Facial skin performs
several crucial functions. It is the body's most
accurate
visible register of health and its first line of defense against the
various assaults of the physical and emotional environments it encounters.
Years of performing these functions inevitably leave signs of the past
that most people would rather not see on their faces. Acne, especially
adult acne, can leave small scars or reddened spots on the face that
fade very slowly or not at all. Sun exposure often causes flat, dark
"age" spots and wrinkling. Smoking dulls skin while drinking
bloats it, and both contribute to wrinkling. Weight gains and losses
can further contribute to surface irregularities. Of course, over time
the normal expressiveness of a face also leaves its marks.
Although cosmetic surgery and laser
resurfacing are probably the most immediate ways to accomplish correction
of the above skin problems, micropeel is a valuable adjunct in the skin
care regime and a wonderful alternative for the patient that is not
ready for more invasive procedures.
MICROPEEL
The micropeel is a three-step process
that removes a micro-thin top layer of the skin. The top layer is a
significant obstruction to having better skin because it composed of
dead cells that make your skin loose it's natural glow. The procedure
is safe, effective and is accomplished in 20 -30 minutes.
- The first step is a five-minute, physical or enzymatic
exfoliation of the skin. This frees the skin of dead cellular layers
and protein. By reducing the top layer of the skin, the appearance
of fine lines and facial discoloration are also lessened.
- In the second step, a 30 percent Alpha Hydroxy Acid
solution is applied. It will stay on the skin for at least 10 seconds,
but no more than 2 minutes. A slight stinging sensation may be felt,
but it is only momentary and quite normal. This part of the micropeel
helps to reduce acne related conditions by freeing impacted debris
from the pores and encourages the dermis to push up more collagen
in response to the injury. A special instrument will then be used
to extract blackheads and acne pimples.
- The third and final step is a skin freezing process
called Cryogenic Therapy. Carbon dioxide is applied to the face in
light, circular motions. Immediately the coolness causes an anti-inflammatory
response. Pores look smaller. Sun damaged cells are cast off. Oil
and blackheads are unblocked. The surface of the skin becomes smoother.
It is recommended that micropeel
be repeated monthly for optimal results. Unlike a facial, most people
will notice a change in their skin right away. Makeup can be applied
immediately after the procedure if you wish.
